Green Route to Lente Kabinet
If you're situated in or around London, Paris or Berlin, taking the train to Amsterdam certainly is the most climate-friendly and picturesque option. A train trip from Berlin to Amsterdam saves about 100kg CO₂ – enough to charge your phone 12,000 times. This is our first choice and we kindly ask you to consider this before booking a plane ticket.
Once in Amsterdam, we would recommend renting a bike and enjoying the scenic route through the lusciously green Dutch landscape on your way to Lente Kabinet. Most of our visitors take the bike already, so you won't be biking alone either. Of course, there's also public transport options and a shuttle service, more information will follow later.
Unfortunately, flying sometimes remains the most feasible option for some. Offsetting the large emissions is worth doing in that case! Why? Aviation has detrimental effects on climate change: greenhouse gasses are directly released into the atmosphere, and massive amounts of CO₂ are emitted from burning fossil fuels (see also IPCC). There are many ways to compensate for this – planting trees is very common. We believe in the more intersectional approach of Atmosfair: a highly credible non-profit organization that offsets emissions through several renewable energy projects in more than 15 countries worldwide. Donations are used for rural electrification with solar power, mini-grids in Madagascar, small biogas plants for farmers in Nepal, or efficient cookstoves in Rwanda – accelerating the energy transition in the global south.
How can I do this?
We have been compensating all artists’ flights since 2019, and we hope that you’re interested in joining us in our mission to give back to nature and future generations – if you are in a position to do so!
Therefore, we have integrated options for offsetting CO₂-emissions from the most frequent departure locations in our ticket shop this year. Is your place of departure not listed here? Head over to Atmosfair and use their easy compensation tool directly!
